About Me

Laura.Moliken.headshot.oct17_0101

With more than twenty-five years of leadership experience in higher education, I bring a depth of perspective to my executive coaching and  consulting practice. My journey began on the field as a highly successful collegiate coach and progressed into senior leadership roles across the institution. I was proud to serve as the first female Director of Athletics at my institution before moving into Vice President roles overseeing Health and Wellness, Campus Life, as well as Interim Vice President for Advancement.

Along the way, I have led and supported numerous executive-level searches for Vice Presidents and other senior leaders, worked closely with Boards of Trustees, and built meaningful relationships with donors and stakeholders. These experiences – combined with by background in coaching and leadership – shape the way I support clients today, focusing on clarity, integrity, and meaningful, lasting results.

My foundation in athletics has deeply shaped the way I approach leadership, strategy, and organizational culture.  Competitive athletics demands clarity of vision, accountability, resilience, and the ability to perform under pressure – qualities that translate directly to effective executive leadership.

As a coach and athletic administrator, I developed a leadership philosophy centered on building high-performing teams, aligning individuals around a shared mission, and making decisive choices in complex environments.  These same principles are essential in the C-suite.  Today, I help executives draw on these performance-driven perspectives – strengthening leadership capacity, improving team dynamics, and creating organizations that can adapt, compete, and thrive.

My leadership journey has been shaped by growing through multiple levels of responsibility within an organization.  Each role – from coaching and program leadership to senior executive positions – offered a deeper understanding of what leaders need to succeed and how organizations truly operate.

Because I’ve experience these transitions myself, I understand both the opportunities and the pressures that come with advancing into new leadership roles.  I work with clients to navigate those transitions thoughtfully, helping them strengthen their leadership presence, expand their strategic perspective, and prepare for the next stage of their careers.
